READ ON THE WILD SIDE

How wild are you man?! Can you read 6 books in 6 weeks or 600 minutes in 6 weeks? If you are up to the challenge then register for the Teen Summer Reading Program at the Adult Reference desks. Prizes are awarded for reaching mid=point and completion with special spin to win options for those that exceed the program requirements. Program runs through JULY 25.

WRITING COMICS

Tuesday, June 30 at 6:30 p.m.

By day, Rulles Lissau is a mild-mannered newspaper reporter in suburban Chicago. By night, he battles evil writing for comic books including The Batman Strikes, Hope: New Orleans and the NEW Hope: Initiative. Join Russel as he gives a hands-on look at the spectacular, amazing and uncanny world of comic books! You will also create your own comics and even letter a page from a real Batman comic! Books will be for sale afterward. Registration is required.

ANIME ME!

The APLD and the Teen Anime Group are looking to add a new member and they want you to help them find one. The task is simple. Come to any of the game nights and while there take some time out to sketch your ROCK STAR alter ego. Later you will learn how a simple sketch is turned into line art that is colorized using computer program. One lucky ROCK STAR character will become the new APLD ANIME friend and appear on our WebPages along with our current characters. Want more information? Get creative using donut beads and wire to create a fabulous bracelet and ring set.

Thursday, July 9, 10:00 a.m.

The last program will be Barrels of Fun!! Wrap a barrel and wire it together for a wild, wearable necklace!

Relax, Energize and Balance

Tuesday, July 21, 7:00 p.m.

Learn the 16 vital energy channels that reduce stress and improve health. Learn proper breathing and posture and techniques that will enhance body/mind harmony. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a pillow and blanket. Registration is required

Saturdays at 1:00 p.m. June 20

This group will be lead by Jennifer Groth-Drinka. She will help participants by leading the group in discussing their writing and sharing their work with others. No matter if you enjoy writing all the time or just have the urge to pen short narratives this group will help you fine tune your skills. As with all our teen programs there will be drinks and snacks provided. Register online today!

Wii”ve got fun! With 2 game systems there is more fun than ever! For PS2 we have Guitar Hero II and DDR. For the Wii System we have Wii Sports and Wii Play. Board games are also out for this night of skill, competition, and FUN! Of course between awesome game play there will also be snacks and drinks to go around. Call ahead so we are sure to have plenty.

At the library access Tutor.com directly from the library computer labs. This online live assisted database is available from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily.
