Online Databases
Exclusive to Antioch Public Library District cardholders! When you get a library card please set up a PIN # to access the following Online Databases. (You must have a registered library card and obtain pin number in person at the Circulation Desk during regular business hours.) These databases are not accessible after 1am until 6:30 a.m. while routine daily maintenance is being performed on the servers.

Automotive Repair—Find automotive repair manuals. This database also contains many diagrams that aren’t even in the repair books!
FirstSearch—By clicking on the WorldCat link, you can send a request to obtain materials from other libraries. Additional databases include ERIC (for articles on education), MEDLINE (for clinical medical articles), and Wilson Select Plus (a database of general magazine/journal articles).
Grolier Online—Visit this site to introduce young minds to world news, an encyclopedia, dictionary/thesaurus, and Atlas. The front page has features such as: This Day in History, Daily News from AP, and more. There is a For Educators section with lesson plans and resources. GO Kids is for Grades 3 – 5 and GO Passport is for older kids and adults.
Health Reference Center—Search for anything health-related, written for those who haven’t gone to medical school.
Heritage Quest Online—Search for your ancestors with census records, periodicals, books, war information, and more. (Please visit the library to utilize our subscription to ancestry.com.)
Learning Express—Learning Express Library is an interactive, online learning platform of practice tests and a tutorial course series designed to help students and adult learners succeed on academic or licensing tests. Obtain immediate scoring, complete answer explanations, and get an individualized analysis of your results. There are 30 exam categories such as AP, GED, Nursing, U.S. Citizenship, and College Entrance exams. Also included are skill building exercises for middle/high school level math and writing. There is a resume and interviewing skills section too.
Newsbank—Includes full text articles from the Chicago Tribune, years 1985 to present, and full text articles from the Antioch Review, 1998 – present.
Novelist—Are you looking for something to read? Search for books by subject matter, specific items you liked in a book, or find authors that are similar to authors you already know and love.
p4a.com—Search for descriptions and prices on a variety of antiques including furniture, porcelain, advertising, and much more. Every record has a picture and prices are updated daily.
Proquest—Search articles from almost 2,200 magazines. Over 1,000 more are included in abstract form.
Reference USA—Research U.S. businesses, including contact names and more. This site is great for job searches!
TellMeMore—Learn Spanish, French, German, and Greek from your computer! This interactive course helps develop listening, reading, and writing skills in a full, immersion method.
